Yes. If you choose to come and watch your athlete(s) bowl, you're more than welcome to join us. We do ask that you stay seated behind where players are stationed and coaching playes is prohibited, but you can always speak to myself or one of the assistant coaches if you need anything.

Only if necessary. If an athlete has to have a snack, please remind them;

  1. Do Not make it a multiple course meal
  2. Do Not eat with your primary hand
  3. Do Not forget to watch for your turn
  4. Do Not leave your garbage behind when you're done eating

NOTE: If allowing food becomes a problem at ANY point in the current or upcoming year, it will be restricted for everyone during practice.

Yes We take note of who shows up and who does not. Players who do not show up to practices risk not being played or potentally removed from the roster if it becomes a routine.

No worries. Just come and speak to me rearding this topic and we'll work out a schedule. I know how crazy it can be to have multiple responsibilities which can sometimes overlap one another. If I'm in the loop of what's happening, we can work out schedule conflicts ahead of time.

Snack Bin & Cooler Questions

The snack bins are plastic bins which are full of snacks for the players to enjoy during our matches and tournaments. We have two bins. One is for JV and one is for varsity. The supplies between them are shared. We also have two colers on wheels which are blue and contain drinks for athletes.

We take a survey to see what everyone likes the first week of the season. Most of what players suggest is added. Some of it is not. I also add a list of suggestions based on what previous athletes have recommended. Previous recommendations for snacks have included; granola bars, corn nuts, meat sticks, chips, pretzels, gum, mints, and fruit snacks. Previous recommendations for drinks have included; water, green tee, Gatoraid, Poweraid, sugar free drinks.

When athletes take the snack bin survey they are asked about any food alergies which need mentioning.

Parents are responsible for all things regarding the snack bins and coolers besides providing the bins/coolers themselves. We have two Guilford bins and coolers which will be provided to a voulenteer parent on the JV side and on the Varsity side. All supplies for them are shared between bins/coolers, but since we are often seperated from eachother by many lanes, it's much easier for each group to have their own supplies. Bins/coolers stay with the parents who they have been assigned to througout the season. Suggestions: No hot chips, no messey foods, no soda, no energy drinks.

Yes We have had parents in the past make sandwiches or bring crackers, cheese, and salami. Fruit like banannas, strawberries, blueberries, grapes or melons are great suggestions. Suggestions: load fruit or other items in plastic container with toothpicks. Add a disposable cup for used toothpicks. Grab and go food is the best kind for teenagers on the lanes. Nothing big, nothing messy, nothing spicy.

The survey the athletes take the first week of bowling will determin the selection the group perfers. Usually, it'll be water and Poweraid. No sodas and no energy drinks.

Match & Tournament Questions

We play a 3 game series against the below mentioned schools 1 time each. Matches begin at 4pm and last roughly 2 hours +/-.

We play the following 9 schools;
Belvidere (North), Machesney Park (Harlem), Rockford (Boylan Catholic), Rockton (Hononegah), Rockford (East), Belvidere (H.S.), Freeport (H.S.), Rockford (Auburn), and Rockford (Jefferson).

No ladders, step stools, and/or chairs will be allowed to be brought in at any state series location from regionals through the State Finals.

The Northern Illinois Conference (NIC-10) is a high school athletic conference consisting of nine high public schools and one Catholic school in Illinois' Boone, Stephenson, and Winnebago Counties. Member schools are also full members of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), and are among the larger schools in that area, all competing in Class AA (in the two class system) of IHSA competitions.

Even though we are competing as a team when we play against every school in the NIC-10 Conference, your student is also competing as an individual. They must bowl at least 24 out of 27 games to qualify for NIC-10. If they finish as an individual in the top-10 tier after 24 to 27 games, they made NIC-10. Their average determins their standings, NOT their total pin fall.

The Top-16 Tournament occurs at the end of the season and includes the top 10 varcity players as well as places 11 - 16 from the boys and girls teams in the NIC-10. This competition takes place over 3 days and consists of 15 games. Boys and girls bowl together and they'll be paired up with the opposite gender who finished in the same placement as they did (Example: 3rd place boy bowls with 3rd place girl). They are not bowling against their partner, both boys and girls remain competing in their divisions.

They'll receive a shirt which has the current year's Top-16 design and get to bowl against the best players in the confrence if they land in the top 16.
